About Us

Spencer Hair Company is a salon group owned by Daryl Gibbs and Garry Spencer. See Director profiles.
The group brings together six North West salons with many benefits for clients and staff.

Our Staff
In such a personal business, a hair salon is judged on the quality of the hairdressing and services provided plus the enjoyment of the experience. The input of the staff is critical to both of these.

Staff Training
Creative Director and company trainer Anthony O'Brien manages the extensive group training programme. The training is varied and conducted in several different and stimulating environments:-

1. Anthony works with our younger stylists in their salons as the basis of their training and development. By the time our first year stylists start college they are proficient in applying colour, whilst the students from several other salons have not been trained in shampooing.

2. All of our stylists attend courses at the academies of Tigi, Wella and GHD, ensuring that they remain at the forefront of the latest techniques.

3. Our stylists attend events and seminars in locations throughout the UK.

Anthony is also employed by Tigi to educate staff at other Northern salons on product knowledge and techniques. This means that he is very well placed to give product advice to clients for their specific hair requirements.

Staff retention
Given the importance of staff to a well run salon, a measure of its success is
how well a salon retains its people. Clients feel comfortable dealing with people who are familiar with their personal style and requirements.

We feel that we score well in this respect. Within the group of fifty five staff, thirteen have been with us for over 10 years. On hitting this milestone we send each one on a weeks holiday paid for by the business. After 10 years of us we feel they have really deserved it!
